Hull Daily Mail Icon News Hull & East Yorkshire News Humber Bridge How people pay to cross the bridge will change early next year The Humber Bridge has put out a seasonal post, calling on Santa to help motorists ready themselves for the changes to how they pay to cross. The bridge’s new tolling system is planned for launch in February 2026. The new system will see the removal of the remaining toll booths on the bridge and the introduction of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology. The system was originally expected to go live before the end of this year. Bridge bosses pushed back to early next year to ensure a “smooth rollout” of the system that will also replace the existing HumberTAG that was introduced in 2015. Users of that will be migrated over to the new platform. In a post on X, the Humber Bridge made a festive appeal to motorists. It said: “Don’t leave it to the last minute … the launch of our updated tolling system – Humber Bridge Toll – is taking place in February. “Let’s be honest, there’s lots to do before then, including … putting up the decorations; writing to Santa; a whole stack of cooking; entertaining; trying not to overdo it! Don’t leave it to the last minute. “Almost 50,000 people have downloaded one of our guides to the new system. It’s fast, easy, and free to do. There are options for current HumberTAG account holders, non-account holders/guests, concessions and business and fleet users.
