Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out work on Anlaby Road to replace ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes. It says it will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Hull, keeping homes and businesses safe, warm and connected. The project, which is expected to last until around the start of February, has been planned in collaboration with Hull City Council. So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place. From Monday, January 5, Anlaby Road eastbound will be closed between the junctions of Calvert Lane and Hamlyn Avenue. A fully signed diversion will be in place for motorists, and residents of Hamlyn Avenue will still be able to access their properties during the works. Chris Keith, operations manager for NGN, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Hull. “We will be working hard to complete this essential scheme as safely and as quickly as possible, and will be working seven days a week when appropriate.
