(Image: East Riding of Yorkshire Council) An essential road improvement scheme is due to be carried out in two villages in the Pocklington area from next week. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £550,000 in the upgrade of five roads in Nunburnholme and Warter. The project is set to start on Monday, March 9. The work is due to last around seven weeks. It will involve structural patching, drainage improvements and resurfacing of the roads. The project will be carried out in Nunburnholme Hill, Back Lane and Warter Road in Nunburnholme and in Mill Lane and Lairs Lane in Warter. During the construction period, the roads being worked on will be closed to all through traffic and clearly marked diversion routes will be in place. While a road is closed, people will still have access to properties in the works area, and deliveries, post and bin collections won’t be affected. The work will be carried out by the council’s own road improvement team. Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “Thank you to residents and businesses in the area for their patience while we complete this essential work to improve these roads.” Did you know you …
