The project comes following direct concerns raised by local residents, bus operators, and regular commuters. To reduce the need for cars to wait in the middle of the junction, traffic signals will be reconfigured with each approach running separately. The site will be upgraded with MOVA technology, a control system that automatically adjusts signal timings based on live traffic conditions to improve efficiency and cut delays. Lane designations from the Sutton Road flyover are being changed to match the rest of the junction; the nearside lane will be for ahead and left turns, while the offside lane is strictly for right turns. Work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 24, and is expected to be completed the following day, Wednesday, March 25, provided the weather remains favourable. During this period, motorists should expect temporary signals as well as lane closures on Sutton Road to allow contractors to safely complete the new line markings.
