Closures planned during three-month repair scheme on east Hull road

News Hull & East Yorkshire News Traffic & Travel The surface of Falkland Road has deteriorated and is in need of restoration, the council has said Three months of closures are being planned while a “deteriorating” road in the Marfleet area of east Hull undergoes a major restoration. The repair scheme, which will be completed in five phases, is set to begin on Falkland Road next week. Hull City Council says the project will see the carriageway repaired and resurfaced to “ensure the road provides a safe, even surface for all users, with improved grip and skid resistance”. The works are set to also include the repair of the concrete road beam and the replacement of kerbs and footpath crossings along with road markings being repainted. The scheme, which is being carried out by Wright Civil Engineering Ltd on behalf of the council, will start on Monday, May 11 and is expected to be finished by Friday, August 7 – weather permitting. Work will take place between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. It will be completed in five phases, which have been detailed as follows: Phase one: Monday, May 11 to Monday, May 25. Road closure from the Annandale Road junction to 25 Falkland Road. Diversion route in place via Wexford Avenue and Ashwood Avenue. Phase two: Wednesday, May 27 to Thursday, June 18. Road closed from 25 to 33 Falkland Road, adjacent to Southwell Avenue. Diversion routes in place via Ashwell Avenue, Hemswell Avenue and Falkland Road, or Wexford Avenue and Ashwood Avenue, depending on the direction of travel. Phase three: Friday, June 19 to Friday, July 3. Road closure from 33 to 91 Falkland Road adjacent to Howell Avenue. Diversion routes in place via Ashwell Avenue, Hemswell Avenue, Dodswell Grove and Southwell Road, or Wexford Avenue and Ashwood Avenue depending on the direction of travel. Closed at Falkland Road junction. Phase four: Monday, July 6 to Monday, July 20. Road closure from 91 Falkland Road to Bamford Avenue. Lane closures and access through available. Diversion in place via Bamford Avenue and Salford Avenue. Phase five: Wednesday, July 22 to Wednesday, August 5. Road closed from Bamford Avenue junction to the bus turn-round (end of Falkland Road).
