Hull drivers have their say as safety cameras go up…

Drivers have weighed in on the installation of cameras at an east Hull junction which aim to curb accidents and improve safety. People have commented on social media about the installation of the signal and speed enforcement cameras at the junction of Mount Pleasant and Holderness Road. Hull City Council Transport Portfolio Holder Cllr Mark Ieronimo said the new cameras were designed to enforce traffic rules and deter people from running red lights. The installation comes as figures showed eight of the 23 collisions recorded at the junction in the last five years were due to drivers ignoring traffic signals. Cllr Ieronimo said the junction had become an accident hotspot when the council award a contract worth £240,448 earlier this year to install the cameras.
