Humberside Fire and Rescue said they were called to reports of a bus on fire at 7.13am this morning. It confirmed that all passengers and the driver had been evacuated safely. Stagecoach East Midlands said they will carry out an investigation into the cause of the incident. Updates will appear below. 8th May 12:38 BST ‘Traffic management and speed restrictions in place’ In a social media post for the Humber Bridge: We can confirm that the Southbound carriageway has been assessed and is now open. However, traffic management and speed restrictions are in place, with the carriageway reducing to one lane around the site of the fire.Please follow all traffic management instructions and thank you for your patience during the incident. 8th May 11:37 BST ‘Carriageway reopened’ According to Inrix: Slow traffic due to earlier bus fire on A15 Humber Bridge. Sensors confirm both carriageways have reopened. Statement from the Humber Bridge Board A spokesperson for the Humber Bridge Board said: An incident involving a vehicle fire took place at around 7.15am on the morning of Friday, 8 May, on the A15, south of the Humber Bridge but within the Humber Bridge estate. Although this led to the closure of both Humber Bridge carriageways, the northbound carriageway has now reopened and we’re working closely with the emergency services to clear the southbound carriageway as quickly as possible. 8th May 10:02 BST Stagecoach statement A spokesperson for Stagecoach East Midlands said: Smoke was detected from one of vehicles as it travelled across the Humber Bridge at around 7.25 this morning. Our driver evacuated passengers from the vehicle safely and we are not aware of any reported injuries. The fire services were called and attended the vehicle. Safety is our absolute priority. We will carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of this incident.
