Here’s everything you need to know: Work to renew the southern footpath will start on Monday, January 26, following the successful completion of improvements to the northern footpath, which began in early January. It is due to take two weeks. The work is part of a planned maintenance programme, which the council says has been split into two phases to ensure pedestrian access can be maintained throughout. To allow the second phase of work to be completed safely, the southern footpath will be closed. A signed diversion will be maintained for pedestrians via the renewed northern footpath. The council is urging the public to follow the diversion route to ensure a safe crossing. The bridge, connecting George Street to Witham, will remain open to road traffic. The scheme is being completed by Midland Industrial Flooring Limited (MIFL) on behalf of the council.
