They are frustrating for motorists, but necessary to keep our roads up to scratch and traffic flowing freely once the work is done. There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city, but there are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council. A63 – St James Street to Market Place: Major A63 improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme, expected Spring 2026. A63 Castle Street: A series of overnight closures for the A63 Castle Street scheme. Weeknights only (8pm-6am). Bus lane closure from Hull Royal to the junction of Park Street/Icehouse Road. Until March 30. Anlaby Road: Site inspection of railway structure. Two-way signals in place from 8.30am to 4pm. April 1. Ashcombe Road: Utility works at the junction of Barnes Way. Multi-way signals in place. April 7 to 19. Barnes Way: Utility works from plot 24 to the new site entrance on Barnes Way. April 7 to 19. Beverley Road: Gas works. Lane closure in place from number 53 to the junction of Margaret Street. 9.30am to 3.30pm only. Until May 14. Boothferry Road: Works to remove existing electronic VMS Sign, and then install a new one. Lane closure in place. April 9 to 10. Brook Street: Gas works. Lane closure in place. April 8 to 18.
