Wincolmlee reopens as gas works are completed

Hull Daily Mail Icon News Hull & East Yorkshire News Traffic & Travel Part of the road has been closed since August A section of Wincolmlee that has been closed since August has now reopened. Part of the road, near the River Hull, has been closed to allow for essential gas works. Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, has been carrying out the work to replace ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes. The distributor has said the road has reopened as of 4pm on Thursday October 16, therefore meeting their updated mid-October deadline. The works were initially expected to be completed by the end of September, however NGN later marked mid-October as the end date. NGN explained the delay, stating: “This project has proved to be more challenging and complicated than we originally anticipated. “Our investigations found that a large area of metallic pipework required permanently replacing with a more durable plastic version, which will greatly reduce the risk of gas leaks in this location in the future.” NGN told Hull Live they appreciate the public’s patience whilst the work was ongoing. They added the reopening of the road is “good news for all.” Do you feel safe on the roads? You can have your say by completing the poll below or by clicking here . …
