Road closures planned during 20-week £500k upgrade scheme
News Hull & East Yorkshire News Traffic & Travel East Riding Of Yorkshire Council says the improvements in Everthorpe will upgrade the road surface and improve drainage A 20-week scheme to improve roads and drainage in an East Yorkshire hamlet is set to begin. The project will see £500,000 invested in upgrading High Road and Low Road in Everthorpe. Carried out in two phases starting from Tuesday, April 7, the work will strengthen the existing roads through structural patching and reconstruction. East Riding Of Yorkshire Council says extensive drainage improvements will also be completed to lessen the impact of surface water flooding on the roads and to surrounding properties. The first phase, beginning next Tuesday, will take place on Low Road and is set to take nine weeks to complete, weather permitting. During this time, the road from the junction of High Road/Low Road to Everthorpe Lane will be closed, with a traffic diversion in place between Low Road, Sands Lane, Station Road and Everthorpe Lane. The second phase is due to begin on Low Road on Monday, June 1 and take 11 weeks to complete. The road from the junction of High Road/Low Road to Sands Lane will be closed during that time and a diversion will be in place between High Road, Everthorpe Lane, Station Road and Sands Lane. The council says: “While every effort will be taken to maintain vehicle access for residents and businesses in the working area, some temporary restrictions may occur. Residents and traders will be notified in advance. “Access for bin collections, deliveries and emergency services will not be restricted.
