Figures released by Humberside Police through a Freedom of Information request show 3,558 offences for failing to comply with a red traffic light signal were recorded between January 2023 and March 2026. There was a sharp rise in offences from 2023 to 2024, which is partly explained by the addition of automated red light cameras, which helped catch more offenders. The rest of the offences were caught by officers. The data shows in 2023, there were 299 offences, in 2024 there were 773 offences, and there were 2,004 times drivers were caught in 2025. From January to March 2026, 482 offenders were caught. July and September 2025 were the worst months on record over the last three years, with 255 offences recorded in each month.
