Drivers in Hull may experience delays over the coming days as numerous roadworks have been scheduled. It is advised to allowed extra time for journeys if they are affected by the mixture of road closures, lane closures and two-way traffic signals in place while the work is going on. Drypool Bridge is still out of use for the foreseeable future and there are also works scheduled on busy routes such as Holderness Road and Perth Street West. Works around the city are taking place for various reasons, such as the installation of telecoms poles, maintaining gas mains, and upgrading the sewer network. All of these works are subject to change depending on factors such as the weather. Here is the roundup of roadworks over the next few weeks… A63 improvement scheme – St James Street to Market Place. Roadworks started May 2020 and are due to finish May 2025. The major A63 Improvement scheme entails full infrastructure change and lane and road closures until the completion of scheme by National Highways. A63 improvement scheme – Commercial Road. This stage of the work started October 2021 and is due for completion by April 30, 2024. Road closures are in place to enable a safe systems of works for operatives working on the National Highways scheme. A63 – Queen Street. From March 11 to May 10, 2024, there will be a full closure on Queen Street as part of the Castle Street improvement scheme. Traffic has no access to the A63 westbound and a full diversion route is in place. These works are also organised by National Highways.
