National award for East Yorkshire’s ‘cheapest petrol station’

A petrol station once lauded as the cheapest in the country has won a national award for the second year running. Malcolm Blake and his son Oliver run Oasis Garage on the Long Riston bypass. The petrol station became well-known as the cost of fuel rocketed in 2022 and drivers would flock there for lower prices. Now, the family business has been honoured at a top industry awards event. Malcolm, 65, whose father set up the business in the 1960s, said: “We are really thrilled to have won this award for the second year running. It’s a testament to our fantastic staff who put all the hard work in.” The business has been a supporter of local good causes, including Long Riston play park, Long Riston church and Leven Pre-School.
