New crossing to follow work on Papa’s roundabout in Willerby

A new pedestrian crossing will be installed on a busy Willerby road. Footpaths will also be widened in Beverley Road, in order to improve safety and access for pedestrians and cyclists visiting Waitrose and other stores off Grange Park Lane. East Riding Council says the work will better connect the West Hill housing estate with the shops. Construction of the new crossing in Beverley Road, to the south of the shops, will follow the completion of roadworks at the nearby “Papa's” roundabout with the A164. The improvement scheme there has suffered a number of delays and is due to be completed in April. The footpath scheme is scheduled to last six weeks with minimal disruption to traffic as the work is being carried out off the road. It is expected that work on the toucan crossing will be carried out in mid-April, following the end of the roundabout scheme, in order to minimise disruption to traffic. When all the work is finished, the Toucan crossing will link the new path to the south-west side of the road.
