Overnight closures on Hull’s North Bridge for ‘routine inspections’

A major crossing in Hull city centre will see a series of overnight closures this month for routine inspection works. North Bridge will be shut between midnight and 6am each day from Sunday, April 7 until Friday, April 19, with a signed diversion route in place via Drypool Bridge. In January, a contract was announced by Hull City Council for assessments on the crossing to see if any structural weaknesses require further work. The Grade II-listed structure is a rolling bascule (scherzer) type bridge and is believed to be one of only seven of its kind in the UK.
