Motorists who head into Hull on the A63 are being advised to allow more time for their journeys over the next few days, following changes to the road layout. Drivers reported long delays this morning (Monday) in the wake of what National Highways, which is managing the works, has described as “slight changes” to the eastbound carriageway. The two lanes split around the roadworks, meaning motorists need to stay to the left in order to exit for city centre streets. Both lanes remain open, but a spokesperson said it could take some time for drivers to “adjust to the new road layout”. The changes are part of an ongoing project to create a split-level junction at Mytongate. One driver said: “Queued from [the] Humber Bridge today. After the flyover, there are two separate single lanes going eastbound into Hull, just wide enough for an HGV, with concrete bollards on either side. What could possibly go wrong?” The National Highways spokesperson said: “We have made some slight changes to the road layout and signage on the A63 eastbound into Hull city centre, which came into effect this morning. New, clearly-marked signs now show exits for the A1079 [Ferensway], city centre and Princes Dock Street before the junction at Ferensway, where we are now asking drivers to keep in the left-hand lane.
