Motorists using Hull's bus lanes have urged drivers in the outside lane to “look left” before moving across, after several reported near misses. Bus lanes reverted to peak time-only enforcement last Monday, but many drivers have yet to adjust to the change. “Second time this week I've been millimetres from been taken out,” Chloe wrote in Hull Live's Traffic and Travel Facebook group. She said drivers travelling in the outside lane were turning left across the bus lane without checking to see if anyone was driving down their inside. “I don't mind people not using them, I mind that people are not looking to see if anyone else is which is resulting in near misses that shouldn't be happening,” Chloe added. According to the Highway Code, “you should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear”.
