A main road through Cottingham is expected to remain shut for another week due to essential gas works taking place. Works began in Northgate on Saturday, February 10, and will continue until Sunday, February 18. To allow engineers to work safely and efficiently, a road closure has been implemented on Northgate/George Street. Some temporary traffic management has been put in place. A signed diversion route takes drivers via New Village Road, Thwaite Street, Newgate Street, South Street, Baynard Avenue, and West End Road.
