Hull’s Drypool Bridge to be closed for at least two…

Hull's Drypool Bridge will be closed for at least two weeks initially and work to repair it could take up to a year to complete, the council has confirmed. The crossing over the River Hull was subject to an “emergency closure” as a precautionary measure on Wednesday evening and has remained shut since to road traffic while inspections took place. It has remained open to pedestrians and cyclists. Hull City Council has now stated that the inspections have revealed that a number of columns supporting the underside of the fixed east span of the bridge have shown “severe” stress, with deterioration of steel within the concrete columns. Plans for works will then be drawn up and these are estimated to take an eight to 12 months to complete.
